Fanshawe Men’s Soccer Claims OCAA Bronze Medal

(London, Ontario) – On Saturday afternoon at the OCAA Men's Soccer Provincial Championship in Toronto, the #6 ranked Fanshawe Falcons captured the OCAA bronze medal, defeating the #12 Algonquin Thunder 3-1.

 

On Thursday in day one of the Championship, Fanshawe won their quarterfinal game against University of Toronto Mississauga by a score of 3-1. OCAA Rookie of the Year Ben Vyfschaft (London, ON) scored first for Fanshawe, followed by two goals from All-Star striker Mike Sneddon (Mount Brydges, ON). Bradley Heath (Markham, ON) was named player of the game for the Falcons for his stellar defensive performance.

 

In the semi-final, Fanshawe fell to the #5 nationally ranked Humber Hawks 2-1 in an extremely well played contest by both teams. Heath scored the lone goal for the Falcons and captain Alberto Barquin (London, ON) was named player of the match.

 

Fanshawe faced Algonquin on Saturday in the bronze medal game and came away with a 3-1 victory. Ahmad Al Rajie (London, ON) and Sneddon netted goals in the first frame, then Heath added a third on a penalty kick in the second half. Al Rajie was named player of the game and Heath was named a Tournament All-Star.
