Box Score PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The Durham College men's basketball team cruised to a 95-77 victory over the Fleming Knights on Bell Let's Talk night in Peterborough.
The Lords opened up the game on fire taking a 30-12 lead into the first quarter break, but Fleming would creep back to shrink the deficit to 45-39 at the half.
The second half ended up swinging in favour of the road team as the Lords outscored Fleming 50-38 to pick up their 10th win of the year. Durham swept Fleming in the season series beating the Knights 111-64 in Oshawa in November.
Brandon Halliburton (Brampton, Ont.) had a season-high 35-point performance including sinking eight three pointers. Heading into the game, Halliburton was fifth in league scoring averaging 22 points per game. He was also just one rebound shy of matching a season-high 10 rebound performance.
Trea Lawson (Ajax, Ont.) was held scoreless but had six assists while
Funsho Dimeji (Malton, Ont.) and
Julian Hinckson Jr. (Ajax, Ont.) combined for 28 points and 17 rebounds.
Romareo Stephenson (Markham, Ont.) shot 6-for-10 for 13 points.
With three straight wins, Durham (10-5) has caught up with the Centennial Colts (10-5) for third place in the OCAA east region standings, setting up what could be an interesting season finale in Scarborough on Feb. 20 when the two clubs meet.
Durham will have five conference games in February beginning on Friday night when they travel to Kingston to take on the St. Lawrence Vikings (8-6). Durham beat the Barry Smith led squad 79-65 in Oshawa in November.
The Lords next home game is on Tuesday, February 6 against the Georgian Grizzlies (8-6). Tip off at the CRWC is 8 p.m., following the women's game.
