Lords suffer a lopsided loss in the quarter-finals

Box Score ETOBICOKE, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team could not overcome a dreadful start in their quarter-final game at the 2018 belairdirect OCAA Women's Basketball Championship as the Fanshawe Falcons cruised to a 92-63 victory to advance to the semifinals.

Durham was outscored 31-5 in the opening quarter, shooting just 1-for-17 to open the game. Fanshawe on the other hand shot 56.5 per cent to roll to a big lead and shutdown any hopes of a Durham upset.

Things got better for Durham throughout the night including outscoring Fanshawe 23-17 in the final ten minutes, but the Falcons' lead was never in danger as they cruised to the double-digit victory.

Durham will now take on the OCAA east region champions George Brown on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the consolation semifinals. George Brown gave up a 15-point halftime lead and lost 75-72 to the Niagara Knights in their quarter-final.
