(London, Ontario) – On a cold afternoon at the National College Baseball Championship hosted by Humber College, the Fanshawe Falcons defeated the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack 10-5 to win the bronze medal.

The Falcons found themselves down 5-3 after the fourth inning, but once again displayed tremendous character in mounting a comeback. In the top of the fifth, pitcher Kale Bilger (London, ON) struck out three Wolfpack players to give Fanshawe some momentum heading to their at bat. The Falcons, who had scored 4 runs in their last at bat against Durham a week ago to win and advance to the National Tournament, then scored an incredible seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning against TRU. Fanshawe would make the 10-5 lead hold up to win in six innings. Bilger, Brandon Jones (Mississauga, ON) and Carter Burnside (Bolton, ON) all recorded two RBIs for Fanshawe, and Bilger notched an impressive seven strikeouts in three innings pitched.

Fanshawe brothers Matt and Kevin Bowden (London, ON) were named Tournament All-Stars for their exemplary play throughout the five games.
