Durham leads from start to finish

NORTH YORK, Ont. - Leading from the opening tip, the Durham College women's basketball team earned their third straight win defeating the Seneca Sting 75-62 on the road Friday night.

The Lords were able to break out to an early lead thanks to their strong play in the paint, outscoring the Sting 21-9 in the opening quarter and outrebounding the Sting 27-20 in the first half. Four different Lords players reached double-digit points in the victory, while two Lords recorded double-digit rebounds.

Durham next returns home to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre where they will challenge the Loyalist Lancers on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. with all the action streamed live at durhamlords.com/livestream. 
  • Fourth-year guard Maddie Dender (Ajax, Ont.) led the Lords with her aggresive play, scoring a game-high 28 points, which included three three-point field goals and nine free throws made.
• Running mate Dekota Kirby (Markham, Ont.) played all 40 minutes of the Friday night showdown, notching 14 points and three assists.
• Lords fifth-year forward Keisha Arthurworrey (Oshawa, Ont.) was the dominant presence inside, registering 13 points including a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line.
• Tiffany McNeil paced the Sting with a team-high 17 points.
  • Arthurworrey picked up another double-double, bringing down a game-high 14 rebounds to go along with her impressive offensive performance on the night.
• Fourth-year forward Emily Chamberlain (Kingston, Ont.) also recorded double-digit rebounds, grabbing 10 boards on the night.
• Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) filled up the stats sheet for the Lords with eight points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.
• Laetitia Siala recorded a team-high 11 rebounds for the Sting, including seven on the offensive glass.
