Lords season comes to close after loss to Huskies

Box Score ETOBICOKE, Ont. – After a positive end to their regular season, the Durham College women's basketball team had their year come to a close after a pair of losses at the 2018 Belairdirect OCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
 
In Saturday's consolation semifinal they suffered a 92-74 loss to the George Brown Huskies after Friday's loss to the Fanshawe Falcons in their quarter-final matchup.
 
Keisha Arthurworrey (Oshawa, Ont.) finished with a team-high 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Lords lone double-double of the game.
 
OCAA second team all-star Maddie Dender (Ajax, Ont.) was named the player of the game with 13 points and two steals.
 
The first quarter saw Durham bounce back and close the gap to a 32-29.
 
From there the Huskies took control and pushed the lead to 10 points at halftime and 17 after three quarters. This was the fourth win George Brown this season against the Lords.
 
Again, they were led by Tianna Sullivan who finished with 29 points, but it was Merrissa Moore with the only double-double for the Huskies after putting up 15 points and 13 rebounds.
 
This was back-to-back seasons at the OCAA championship for the Lords after an absence starting in 2014-15. The championship wraps up at Humber College on Sunday, March 4 with the final scheduled for 5 p.m.
