Sting Sweep Away Lancers

The Seneca Sting (3-7) won their third match of the season, sweeping the Loyalist Lancers (1-10) at home.

Muneer Al Salem, playing his first home game of the season, was dominant all night, finished with 27 kills and 5 digs.

In the opening set, trailing 25-24, Dilshan Subasinghe had a thunderous kill to even the set before the Sting closed out the set 27-25. The play started with a tough serve by Ayo Ojeshina which put the Lancers on the defensive for the rally.

The second set saw the Sting once again trail late, 22-21. The Sting battled back to take a 24-22 lead, only to see the Lancers score three straight points for a 25-24 lead. Al Salem took over the game, recording four kills over the next five points as the Sting took a commanding lead in the match with the 28-26 victory.

With the match tied 25-25 in the third set, David Lazarev put the Sting up 26-25 before Al Salem finished the match with a roll shot for the win.

Lazarev contributed 9 kills in the win along with 5 digs. Grender Dhillon added 6 kills and Richard Ngo finished with 6 digs. Winson Lee had a match-high 43 assists.

Mark Wikkerink led the Lancers with 10 kills. Josh Roberts finished with 9 kills and 17 digs and Joe Bresee recorded 7 kills and 12 digs. Gabe Van Allen added 37 assists.
