PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Concluding a home-and-home with Fleming, the Durham College men's rugby team defeated the Knights 50-21 on Sunday evening in Peterborough.
The Lords outscored the Knights 112-33 in the two games this season.
Durham dominated the first half on Sunday, taking a 31-0 lead into the break. Fourth-year centre
Ty Jacob (Courtice, Ont.) notched two tries in the opening half, while
Malcolm Hooper (Orangeville, Ont.) and
Hayden Parkins (Oshawa, Ont.), and
Jordon Henry (Whitby, Ont.) each recorded single tries.
Eddie Oliveira (Oshawa, Ont.) added three converts in the first frame as well.
A much more competitive second half, Durham scoring came courtesy
Taylor Dallas (Port Perry, Ont.),
Ayden Wannamaker-McLean (Stirling, Ont.), and
Jack DiRosa (Newmarket, Ont.), while Jacob kicked two converts to make it a 14 points day for himself.
The Lords return to Thompson Rugby Park on Friday, Oct. 11 as they look to avenge an earlier season loss against the visiting Algonquin Thunder. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m.
