Box Score NORTH YORK, Ont. – To close out conference action in December in OCAA men's basketball, Seneca beat Durham in overtime after tying the game on a buzzer beater. The Lords had the chance to return the favour on Tuesday night but were unable to sink a three-pointer at the end as the Sting won 84-81.
Durham cut a ten-point deficit to one with less than ten seconds in the fourth quarter setting up the thrilling finish. After Seneca made two free-throws, Durham had one last chance to tie the game but their half court attempt was just wide, keeping the Sting's undefeated record intact.
Seneca, who is ranked fourth in the country, improves to 11-0. The Lords are 7-4 after back-to-back losses to the Sting.
Julian Hinckson Jr. (Ajax, Ont.) had his second career double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in 32 minutes of courtime.
Brandon Halliburton (Brampton, Ont.) ended the night with 13 points and seven assists while
Trea Lawson (Whitby, Ont.) had eight points, six rebounds and three steals.
Funsho Dimeji (Malton, Ont.) and
Dondre Huggins (Scarborough, Ont.) had 15 and 13 points respectively.
Khalil Miller, who hit the buzzer beater against the Lords in December, finished the night with a game-high 24 points.
It will not get any easier for Durham as they will match up against the George Brown Huskies on Friday night in Toronto. George Brown (9-1) recently beat Durham in overtime at the Huskies New Year's Classic in January.
