Men's soccer unable to climb out of early hole in home opener

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's soccer team (1-1 OCAA) were on the defensive early in their home opener against George Brown - conceding less than two minutes into the contest - and never quite recovered, suffering a 4-1 loss.

"That's never the way you want to start a game," head coach Andrew Seuradge said. "I felt like we had a lot of good moments, especially in the first half, but just didn't capitalize on enough of our chances. If you don't score, you can't win."

Mathew Santos pulled the Double-Blue level in the 17th minute but the Bruins found themselves in a deep hole at the half, with George Brown scoring two more before the break, while also being down a man after defender Anthony Wright was shown his second yellow card.

The club has a quick turnaround, travelling to Conestoga on Sept. 20 and Seuradge is eager to see how his team responds.

"We're already shifting our focus to the next game," he said. "You need to have a short memory in soccer, so we'll start mentally preparing for that trip right away."
