BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (13-1, 7-0 OCAA) jumped all over their rivals from Humber leading by as many as 25, but still had to weather a second half run to earn an 88-73 victory.
"It was a great effort in front of a sold out venue," head coach Jim Flack said. "What more could you want?"
The Double-Blue opened the game on an 8-2 run and, after Humber pulled to within two, 8-6, responded with a 12-3 run that built a 22-9 advantage.
They would lead 29-13, limiting Humber to their lowest single quarter total of any conference game thus far.
A 12-2 Sheridan run midway through the second quarter pushed the advantage to 21, 43-22, which the Bruins carried into a 49-28 halftime lead.
Humber connected on just nine of 31 (.290) first half attempts, as their 28 first half points was also a season low.
Early in the third frame, the Bruins would push their edge to 25 points, but saw Humber chop that in half on the strength of a 12-0 run.
The home side was up by 12 heading into the final period were the Bruins were once again able to shut down the Humber attack, holding them to 14 points to perserve the victory.
The Bruins had a big advantage on the glass, out-rebounding Humber 60-42, led by Tre Anderson with 11.
Nick Campbell paced the club with 16 points, while Nav Deol (14) and AJ Thomson (10) were also in double figures.
The Double-Blue will close out the first half of their home schedule on Nov. 28, hosting Niagara (8pm).
Blue Notes: With 118 meetings between the two rivals now in the books, Sheridan holds a 61-57 advantage in the all-time series, and has won the last four.
