SHORTHANDED GRIZZLIES COME UP SHORT TO PANTHERS
Alyssa Muller and the Grizzlies women's volleyball team battled hard on Wednesday night but fell to Canadore 3-0.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team continued their busy regular season schedule on Wednesday night when they took on the Canadore Panthers in North Bay, ON.
The shorthanded Grizzlies group battled hard but were unable to steal a victory from the Panthers.
Georgian pushed Canadore to the limit in the first two sets before they ran out of gas in the third set falling 3-0 to the Panthers by set scores of 28-26, 25-22 and 25-9.
Kelsey Watson (Barrie) led the Grizzlies in scoring in her two sets of play with 10 points while teammates Amber Maw (Huntsville) and Domenica De Francesco (Barrie) each had eight points in the loss.
The Grizzlies now sit in a tie for fifth place in the OCAA east division with a season record of 5-7.
Georgian will continue their stretch of road games first taking on the Seneca Sting this Saturday, Jan. 19 followed by a trip to face the Durham Lords on Jan. 24.
The Grizzlies will play their next home game on Friday, Feb. 1 when they host the Algonquin Thunder at the Georgian Athletic Centre. The women's game gets underway at 6 p.m. followed by the men's at 8 p.m. Tickets are available for the double-header at the doors for just $5.
