Lords lose back-to-back games to open second half

Box Score OSHAWA, Ont. – After a heartbreaking overtime loss to open 2016, the Durham College women's basketball team was unable to bounce back with a victory as the George Brown Huskies ruined the Lords first home game of the new year.
 
George Brown earned a 65-50 victory in Oshawa as Faye Tomatuk was deadly from three-point range, hitting five of eight from the outside, to lead the Huskies with 20 points.
 
The Huskies lead from the opening tip-off, but after the first quarter the Lords had clawed back to trail 16-13. Even after a 6-0 run by George Brown to start the second quarter Durham bounced back offensively. At half they trailed by five, down 28-23.
 
Durham continued to struggle to contain the Huskies offence in the third as they stretched their lead to 11 points after three quarters. In the fourth the Lords were unable to close the gap anymore as George Brown went on to pick up their fifth win of the season.
 
Lindsay Panchan (Ajax, Ont.) led the Lords with 21 points and 15 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season in as many games.
 
For George Brown Tianna Sullivan helped her team pick up the win with 10 points and 13 boards for a double-double.
 
The Lords will continue their home stand on Friday when they host the Centennial Colts at 6 p.m.
