SPLIT WEEKEND FOR MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Lancers came away from back to back games with a hard fought loss against the Seneca Sting and a big win over the Centennial Colts.

The 4-2 Lancers kicked off the weekend Friday night against the Sting with a pair of 3-point shots to take the early lead. Continuing to ward off the Sting, the Lancers held a 3 point lead at the end of the first quarter and maintained their hold until well into the second where The Sting overtook the game, outscoring the home team 20-11.

Third quarter struggles for the Lancers extended the Sting's 37-31 half time score into a 15-point spread. Refusing to quit on the game, the Lancers went on an 8 point unanswered run to start the fourth quarter and brought the game within 5 with the Sting ahead 68-63 late in the game. The Sting went on a run of their own, but this time the Lancers weren't able to over come and fell 84-77 for their 3^rd loss of the season.

Dorrell Atkinson & Angelo Sarsonas each contributed 17 points to the game and Chris Asomani earned another double double on the season with 12 points and 13 boards.

Bouncing back for part two of the double header, the Lancers hosted the Centennial Colts on Saturday and turned in one of their best performances of the year. With the two team neck and neck in the OCAA rankings, there was plenty riding on the game and the Lancers stepped up to the challenge.  

Taking a commanding lead from the start, the Lancers remained in control of the game throughout the entire competition. Up by 12 after the first 10 minutes, the Lancers were dominant at both ends of the court. Shooting well both outside the arc and in the paint, the home team showed off precise passes and good ball movement to get by the Colts defence, pushing them ahead 55-37 at the half.

The Lancers maintained the momentum in the third quarter, not giving the Colts the opportunity to get themselves back into the game. Second year Lancer Williamson Dorelien went 4 for 4 from the free throw line and contributed a monster dunk that lead into the final quarter.

With Raymond Yeung at the line late in the 4th,  the Lancers cracked triple digits for the second time this season and pushed to a 100-79 win over the Colts to improve to a 5-3 season record.

In a true team victory, the Lancers not only out rebound the Colts 50-32, but every player on the Lancer's roster got on the court and contributed to the win.

Akim Ruot was the game leading scorer with 25 points and and 15 rebounds followed closely by Dorelien who added 21 points and 10 board.  

The Lancers get back in action Friday November 30^th when they take on the Fleming Knights in Peterborough.
