Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Durham College Sports Information

Despite loss to Panthers, Lords can lock up home court advantage with one more victory

NORTH BAY, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team is one win away from guaranteeing they will play their OCAA championship qualifying game at home.

A victory on Saturday, as Seneca lost to the Fleming Knights, would've done it, but after falling 3-1 to the Canadore Panthers the Lords will have to win one of their final three matches to clinch home court.

In the opening two sets each team had trouble as Canadore dominated Durham 25-14 before a poor second set saw them downed 25-16 by the Lords to knot the match 1-1.

Unfortunately for the Lords the Panthers wanted the final two sets more and a late comeback in the third wasn't enough for Durham as they eventually fell 25-21. In the fourth the two teams were tied late in the set, but Canadore made one final push to win 25-23 and avoid the fifth and deciding set.

Durham College athlete of the week Allyson Terwillegar (Enniskillen, Ont.) finished the match with a team-high 13 points. The second-year graphic design student finished with 10 kills, two aces and a block.

Jonika Babb (Oshawa, Ont.) had a team-high three blocks, alongside two aces and four kills.

Thursday night the Lords will return home for their final home game of the year when they host the Fleming Knights. First serve will be at 6 p.m.

Following the match, Durham College athletics will recognize the graduating student-athletes with a short ceremony.
