LANCERS FALL IN STRAIGHT SETS TO LORDS

The women's volleyball team dropped a tough one against the undefeated Durham Lords in their first game back.

 
Despite falling in straight sets, the Lancers put up a great fight against the division leading Lords and remained competitive throughout the match. The Lancers held significant leads many times throughout the match, only falling behind late in the game and allowing the Lords to finish out the set.
 
The Lancers played incredible defence that forced the Lords into out-of-system plays, translating into more free balls for the Lancers to cycle through.
 
Raven Maracle turned in a a standout performance in the match, recording 15 points for the Lancers, making her the game's leading scorer. With 11 kills and 4 aces in the matchup. , Maracle showed off a impressive range of shots in the front row while kept the ball alive in the back to allow her team good scoring opportunities.
 
Fourth year Lancer Jillian Hoftyzer remained a consistent force for the team with 7 kills and 3 blocks while Durham's Jessica Joensen lead her team with a total of 14 points.
 
The Lancers head to Ottawa for their next games in a swing trip weekend against the Algonquin Thunder and La Cite Coyotes January 19/20.
