SCARBOROUGH, Ont. – Facing a tough opponent on the road, the Durham Lords men's basketball team fell 84-71 versus the Centennial Colts on Thursday night.
After leading 21-19 following the first quarter the Lords came undone in the second, scoring just 10 points in the frame, while conceding 25 points to the Colts. DC would speed up the pace in the second half and produce a comeback attempt, bringing the game to within single-digits, but it would not be enough as time expired on the Lords. Centennial took advantage of Durham errors to score 29 points off turnovers in the victory, while also outrebounding the Lords 47-33.
The Lords will look to rebound next week with two home games to finish the first semester of action. First, DC welcomes the UTM Eagles on Tuesday, Nov. 26, before then facing the Seneca Sting on Friday, Nov. 29. Both games tip-off at 8 p.m. from the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre with the games also being streamed on
OCAA LIVE.
• Veteran leaders
Romareo Stephenson (Markham Ont.) and
Fioti Mabanza (Whitby, Ont.) drove the comeback effort each scoring a game-high 18 points apiece in the hard fought loss.
• Chipping in with 11 points each were first-year forward
Gabriel Andre (Ottawa, Ont.) and first-year guard
Nathanial Parker (Ajax, Ont.).
• Kyrin Henlin led the Colts with 15 points, including nine made free throws.
• Despite running the point, Parker also proved to be the Lords top rebounder on the night with eight boards, also adding four assists and two steals.
• Mabanza was also a facilitator for the Lords finishing with five assists, in addition to five rebounds and a steal.
• Henlin earned a double-double registering 12 rebounds, while Dieu Merci grabbed a game-high 13 for Centennial.
