Women's soccer come up short in season opener

SUDBURY, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's soccer team (0-1 OCAA) got on the board first in their OCAA season opener, but saw Cambrian score a pair of goals 10 minutes apart in the second half, handing the Double-Blue a 2-1 defeat.

Kendra Challis opened the scoring for the Bruins in the 37th minute, giving Sheridan a 1-0 advantage at the interval, but Cambrian rallied with a 52nd minute goal from Tiffany Johnson and a 62nd minute from Gabrielle Conrad to provide the final margin.

The Bruins were out-shot 22-4 in the contest, but were held in the game by Savanna Wood, who saved 13 of the 15 shots that found their way on target.

The Double-Blue will welcome George Brown to Sheridan Stadium on Sept. 16 (12pm) for their home opener, and will host Cambrian in the second leg of their season series on Sunday, Sept. 24 (12pm).
