WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL DROPS TIGHT MATCH TO LORDS
The Grizzlies were close in each set but fell 3-0 to Durham on Tuesday night in Oshawa.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team travelled to face the Durham Lords on Tuesday night in Oshawa, ON.
Georgian had a much improved effort but some tough luck kept the Grizzlies from getting over the hump as they fell 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-23).
Kelsey Watson (Barrie) had an impressive game with five kills, four blocks and three aces to lead the way for Georgian with 12 points. Quinn McGregor (Lindsey) had eight points (6 kills, 2 aces) while Sarah Cayouette (Oshawa) had five kills with a perfect hitting percentage.
The Grizzlies now sit in a tie for fifth place in the OCAA east division standings with a 7-5 record.
Georgian will now enter a busy stretch as they will play their next three games at home over the course of the next week.
First the Grizzlies will host the Centennial Colts on Friday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. They will then go back-to-back when they host the Loyalist Lancers on Saturday, Jan 27 at 1 p.m.
Georgian will play their final home game of the regular season on Wednesday, Jan. 31 when they host the George Brown Huskies on Bell Let's Talk Night. Georgian along with all of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) schools have partnered with Bell Let's Talk to help end the stigma and help support mental health awareness.
There will be tons of great prizes up for grabs including Barrie Colts tickets and Grizzlies merchandise plus tons Bell Let's Talk giveaways. Tickets for all three final regular season home games are available at the doors for $5.
