Lords stung by Seneca in North York

Box Score NORTH YORK, Ont. – In a make-up game rescheduled from last week, the Durham College women's basketball team dropped a 78-69 decision to the Seneca Sting on Tuesday night in North York.

Seneca (8-2) swept the season series over Durham winning all three games by nine points or less. In their first two meetings of the season the Lords fell 82-78 and 74-63 respectively.

Durham (5-6) have lost their last three conference games and are tied for third place in the OCAA east region with the St. Lawrence Vikings.

The Lords looked strong in the first quarter leading 17-15, but surrendered the lead for good in the second quarter as the Sting led 38-33 at the half. Despite making a couple of runs in the third and fourth quarters, Durham could never close the gap as Seneca earned the nine-point win.

Four Lords ended up in double-digit scoring with Dekota Kirby (Markham, Ont.) leading the way with 15 points while Keisha Arthurworrey (Oshawa, Ont.) ended up with 13. Maddie Dender (Ajax, Ont.) and Emily Chamberlain (Kingston, Ont.) scored 12 and 10 points respectively.

Durham's defence could not find a way to contain Taylor Allicock who ended the night with 29 points, one shy of her season high.

Both teams struggled shooting with Durham going 23-for-77 and Seneca just a bit better at 26-for-67.

Durham's next action will be on Wednesday, January 24 at the CRWC against the Loyalist Lancers (4-5). The Durham College athletic department will honour the OCAA championship winning women's softball and men's soccer teams.

The game will also be Durham's Bell Let's Talk night. Fans are encouraged to bring their own pots and make some noise for mental health as CCAA schools across the country join the conversation.
