KINGSTON, Ont. – Less than 24 hours after suffering their first loss of the season, the No. 4 ranked Durham College men's soccer team managed to bounce back with a 4-0 shutout over the St. Lawrence Vikings.
After being blanked on Friday night despite a number of scoring opportunities, it looked as if things were going to turn out the same way on Saturday. Durham missed on a number of chances in the first half, with the game in a 0-0 deadlock after 45 minutes.
In the second half, Durham managed to break the ice in the 51st minute as
Ryan Cullen (Pickering, Ont.) finished off a cross, which opened the floodgates for the Lords' offence.
Bruce Cullen (Pickering, Ont.) and
Matthew Berry (Oshawa, Ont.) scored back-to-back goals two-minutes apart with Cullen's coming at the 63-minute mark.
Stephane Ahanda (Cameroon) would put the game away in the 83rd minute scoring the fourth goal of the game for the Lords.
Dylan Yeo (Newmarket, Ont.) earned his second clean sheet of the season.
Durham is 2-1-0 this year and tied with Centennial (2-0-0) for top spot in the OCAA east region with six points apiece. The two teams will square off on Wednesday night at Vaso's Field beginning at 8:15 p.m.
