ANTHONY MEGGO SHINES AS GRIZZLIES DEFEAT PANTHERS
Third year guard Anthony Meggo had 27 points, 13 assists and no turnovers as Georgian beat Canadore 89-81 on Saturday.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team travelled to face the Canadore Panthers in a big regular season game on Saturday afternoon in North Bay, ON.
After a tight first half the Grizzlies came out on fire in the third quarter opening with a 12-2 run and kept the pressure on the rest of the way to defeat the Panthers 89-81.
No Grizzlies player was as hot as third year guard Anthony Meggo.
The Whitby native had an incredible game scoring 27 points, shooting over 50% while also registering a career high 13 assists. Meggo leads all Georgian players in scoring this season averaging 21.4 points-per-game, which puts him sixth in the OCAA.
Connor Laronde (Barrie) was also a key contributor as he scored 24 points. He has now scored at least 20 points in half of Georgian's games this season.
The win snaps a two game losing skid for the Grizzlies giving them a 5-3 record as they now sit in fifth place in the OCAA east division standings.
This sets up a big upcoming match against the fourth place Centennial Colts (6-3) who will visit Georgian this coming Wednesday, Nov. 29.
It's the final home game of the first half for the season at the Georgian Athletic Centre. Tickets are available at the doors for $5. Students can pick up tickets for FREE in advance at the Georgian Athletic Centre front desk.
