Lords swept by first-place Saints

WINDSOR, Ont. – The Durham College women's softball team was unable to earn a weekend split on the road as the St. Clair Saints held on for a pair of victories on Sunday.

Although the Lords still have games in hand, the Saints have pulled ahead for top spot in the OCAA with a 10-2 record. One of those two losses came from Durham College last weekend in their first doubleheader in Oshawa.

To open Sunday's battle, Ashley Black (Waterloo, Ont.) lost the 2-1 pitcher's duel to Olivia Elliott.

Both team's offence came alive in the second game, but it was a four-run third and three-run fifth innings that played the part in an 8-5 victory for the St. Clair Saints. Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) finished the week 2-1 after taking the loss to end the week for Durham.

Next weekend the team splits their time between Kitchener and Oshawa as they face the Conestoga Condors before hosting the Mohawk Mountaineers on Sunday.

  Game 1
Alexis Pereira (Newmarket, Ont.) had an RBI in the loss for the Lords. Caleigh Coels (Duncan, B.C.) finished 1-for-2 with the lone run scored.
• Jordan Taylor scored both Saints runs.

Game 2
• Pereira's hot bat continued, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. Glendinning was 2-for-4 with two RBI – driving in the most runs for the Lords in the game.
• Lauryn Schram, Michaela Rilett and Alexandra Senft all scored two runs apiece for the Saints, but it was Rilett with the best line of the game. She finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
  Game 1
• Black had an impressive line over six innings pitched. She allowed two earned runs on only six hits and two walks, while striking out four in the loss.
• Elliott was slightly better than Black on the day, throwing the complete game for the Saints. She allowed one earned run on four hits.

Game 2
• Glendinning took the loss for the Lords, going five innings. She allowed four earned runs on 13 hits, while striking out four.
• Stiller earned the victory – also over five innings – allowing three earned runs on nine hits and a walk.
  Overall Record: 6-4
Conference Record: 6-4
