VAUGHAN, Ont. – The Durham College women's soccer team had their season come to a close on Sunday as the Humber Hawks defeated the Lords 2-0 to advance to the OCAA championship.
Heather Travis (Oakville, Ont.) kept the Lords in the match, making numerous point-blank stops, including three breakaway attempts in the first half.
Travis couldn't stop everything she faced though, as Rebecca Spratt was able to beat her in the 27
th minute of the half to put her Hawks ahead 1-0.
Although Humber had the advantage in shots on goal, they only led 1-0 at the break.
In the second half Humber's Guilia Zanardi converted on a 30-yard strike to extend the lead to two goals midway through the second half.
With the Hawks sitting back to protect their lead the Lords were able to get a few more chances late, but Humber held on to their lead to shutout Durham and advance to the OCAA championship presented by belairdirect next week in Windsor.
The Lords finished their regular season winning four of their final six games to wrap up conference play with a 5-7-0 record.
