BARRIE, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team earned their first win of the 2018-19 OCAA season, defeating the Georgian Grizzlies 79-60 on Wednesday night in Barrie.
Durham's defence played well, forcing the Grizzlies into 21 turnovers, holding the Grizzlies to 36 percent shooting, and not allowing the home team to score more than 19 points in a single quarter.
Meanwhile, on the offensive end the Lords received a huge boom from the bench and in the paint outscoring Georgian 23-12 outside the starting fives and 16-8 within range of the basket.
Next for the Lords will be the team's home opener at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre on Tuesday, Oct. 30 against the Centennial Colts. Tip off for the game is scheduled for 6 p.m. with all the action being streamed live via
the Durham Lords Network.

Maddie Dender (Ajax, Ont.) tied for the team lead with 17 points
• Dominating in the paint,
Keisha Arthurworrey (Oshawa, Ont.) also notched a game-high 17 points in the victory, shooting an efficient 6-for-10 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

Dekota Kirby (Markham, Ont.) registered her second consecutive double-double, dropping 13 points with 11 assists.
• Georgian was led by 15 points from Mckenzie Howlett.
• Arthurworrey recorded a double-double, adding 11 rebounds to her game-high 17 points.
• First-year forward
Marie Stasiuk (Cobourg, Ont.) was instrumental to the Lords success off the bench grabbing six rebounds alongside her 10 points scored.
• Kelsey Dunkeld led the Grizzlies on the boards with seven rebounds.
