Men's volleyball drop five set thriller to Redeemer

ANCASTER, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's volleyball team (1-1 OCAA) engaged in yet another thriller with Redeemer, out-pointing their rivals 110-107, but falling in five sets (27-29, 25-19, 26-24, 14-25, 15-13).

After claiming the opener, the Bruins fell into a 2-1 hole, before forcing a fifth and deciding set.

Quickly down 5-1 to start the final frame, the Bruins trailed 8-5 at the changeover, but used a 4-0 run to take an 11-10 lead and were in a position to close out, up 13-12.

A pair of serves completely turned the match on its head, as a Sheridan error followed by a Redeemer ace put the home side on match point.

There, the Bruins couldn't get into their offence, and the attack error handed Redeemer the set and the match.

Andre Zopf scored a team-high 15 points on 15 kills, while Andrew Cianci was also in double figures with 13 points (eight kills, one ace, four blocks).

The team will have another tough road stretch, with games at St. Clair (Nov. 10) and Fanshawe (Nov. 11) next weekend.
