LANCERS FALL IN CLOSE 5 SET BATTLE AGAINST THUNDER

LANCERS FALL IN CLOSE 5 SET BATTLE AGAINST THUNDER

The Lancers dropped their second straight 5 set battle this week.

Facing off against the Algonquin Thunder, the Lancers got off to a rocky start and trailed 12-5 early on. Blocking struggles plagued the home team and allowed the Thunder to roll through the first portion of the game before the Lancers began to claw their way back. Despite going on a 7 point run to finish out the set, the Lancers fell 25-18.

Bouncing back in the second set, the Lancers downed the Thunder 25-17 with stronger attacks, consistent defence and significantly improved blocks. Having struggled with their serving in previous games, the Lancers took huge steps in the right direction to strengthen their game from the service line.

The next two sets were near mirror imagines to the first two. The Thunder won set 3 25-18 and the Lancers evened the score up 2-2 with a 25-16 win in set 4.

Going into a do or die fifth set, the Thunder held the edge for almost the entirity of the game. Down 10-5, the Lancers began to claw their way back for the second time in the night. Yet again, the comeback happened too late and the Lancers were unable to over take the Thunder and they fell 15-12.

The Lancers get back on the court Satuday November 17th when they travel to Toronto to take on the Seneca Sting.
