OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College men's rugby team continued to showcase their dynamic offence, defeating the visiting Fleming Knights 68-34 at Thompson Rugby Park on Friday evening.
The Lords offence has now surpassed 60 points in back-to-back games, lifting the team into a tie for first place in the OCAAÂ east division with a 3-1 record.
Durham jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead in the Friday night showdown versus Fleming as
Alex Bews (Whitby, Ont.) and
Daniel Cooper (Uxbridge, Ont.) both found their way in for tries in the opening minutes. Scoring continued for the Lords as they powered their way to a 33-12 halftime lead.
Following the break, Durham would add another 35 points as seven different Lords would reach the try zone on the evening. Cooper finished the night with four, followed by single markers from Bews,
James Stockwood (Bowmanville, Ont.),
Malcolm Hooper,
John Stewart (Whitby, Ont.),
Ty Jacob (Oshawa, Ont.), and
Hayden Parkins (Oshawa, Ont.).
Eddie Oliveira (Recife, Brazil) kicked nine converts for the Lords.
Next on the schedule for Durham is their home finale on Saturday, Oct. 13. The matchup could decide first place in the OCAAÂ east division as the Lords face off with the 3-0 Algonquin Thunder. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the home of the Durham Lords, Thompson Rugby Park. Â
