OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team took their first loss of the season after falling to the Loyalist Lancers 3-0 (23-25, 19-25, 12-25).
Last season, Loyalist failed to pick up a set win in any of their two regular season and two Adidas Cup meetings with the Lords. In their first meeting this season, the result was the opposite with Loyalist earning the sweep.
Loyalist jumped out to an early lead after squeezing out a 25-23 victory in the opening set. While the majority of the second set was close, the Lancers picked things up towards the end to come out on top with a 25-19 win.
Heading into the third set, the Lords were faced with a situation where they would have to win the next three sets consecutively to keep their undefeated streak alive. However, Loyalist wanted to complete the game early and came out swinging for a 25-12 win to hand Durham their first loss of the year.
