KINGSTON, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team may have led by eight points going into the fourth quarter of their first conference game on Friday, but the St. Lawrence Vikings' outscoring them 22-8 in the fourth to hand them an 83-77 loss.
Durham's first lead of the game was 7-5 in the first quarter, which they held until the Vikings took a 72-71 lead with 6:36 to go in the game. From there the Lords defence was unable to match St. Lawrence's pressure as they went on 13-0 run in the fourth before Durham College's second basket of the quarter.
The Lords pulled back within two points after falling behind by as much as six, the Vikings largest lead of the game, but when the final buzzer went it became the first time since the 2008-09 season that Durham did not win their first conference game of the season.
They are back in action on Wednesday in Barrie against the Grizzlies before returning to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre for their home opener on October 30 against the Centennial Colts.

Dekota Kirby (Markham, Ont.) picked up the only double-double of the night, dropping 15 points with 11 assists.

Chyvon Thomas (Ajax, Ont.) had the magic touch offensively on Friday, scoring a game-high 23 points to pace the Lords offence.
• Five Lords were in double-digit scoring, while the Vikings matched them with five.
• Rachel Steer's 18 points led St. Lawrence's offence.
• Kylie Moyer had a game-high 16 rebounds for the Vikings – which included nine in the fourth quarter.

Chyvon Thomas was one rebound off a double-double, picking up nine, while having a game-high four steals.
• The Vikings out-rebounded the Lords 48-38, while Durham had 10 steals to St. Lawrence's five.
