TORONTO, Ont. – Durham College couldn't bounce back from a rough first quarter as the men's basketball team lost their second game of the season in as many games, 77-69 to the George Brown Huskies on Saturday.
The Huskies led the Lords 25-8 after the first quarter, but Durham stormed back to trail by just one, 33-32 at halftime.
In the third quarter George Brown took the momentum back as they extended their lead to 12 points with just 10 minutes to play. The Lords closed the gap to six with three minutes to play, but eventually lost 77-69.
Aaron Hayles (Pickering, Ont.) led Durham with 30 points, while
Rashaun Bennett (Scarborough, Ont.) added nine.
Darian Rowe (Maple, Ont.) and
Alessio Del Gobbo (North York, Ont.) led the team with nine boards apiece.
George Brown's Jordan Marlowe led his team with 16 points, while Dejazmatch James had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Durham will now return to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre for their home opener against the Seneca Sting on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m.
