OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's soccer team hosted the Algonquin Thunder on Friday night for their second meeting of the season, losing 5-0 to drop their second consecutive match.
 
Algonquin spent the majority of the first 25 minutes with possession in Durham's end, outshooting the Lords 9-0 with six on target and Shae-Lynn Young (Oshawa, Ont.) standing tall for each one.
 
Darby Perry (Ottawa, Ont.) opened the scoring for the Thunder in the 27^th minute on their tenth shot of the match. With the goal, Algonquin became the first team in OCAA to score 40 goals this season – a milestone that only took until their eighth match to reach.
 
The Lords took their first shot half an hour in and sailed wide of the net, but put their first on target off a free kick in the 37^th minute.
 
Seconds before the whistle was to blow for halftime, Algonquin found the back of the net to extend their lead to two.
 
The Thunder picked up where they left off to begin the second half with a goal to make it 3-0 just short of three minutes into action. Only 10 minutes later, Algonquin extended their lead to four goals after continuing to pester Young with shots.
 
Durham continued to fight back throughout the half with their first shot on target of the frame coming in the 67^th minute. Ultimately, Algonquin's defence held strong to preserve the clean sheet for Jenna King (Ajax, Ont.) and a 5-0 victory.
 
Algonquin outshout Durham 27-3 over the course of the game and Lords goalkeeper Young finished with 17 saves.
