OTTAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team left the nation's capital Saturday on the losing end of a four-point game against the Algonquin Thunder.
 
After defeating the Thunder 75-59 to open the season, the Lords fell 74-70 in their second meeting of the season. Their final meeting will take place Friday, Feb. 3 in Oshawa.
 
Durham was 7-for-33 in the opening 20 minutes of play, which put them down 34-16 at halftime. Although they trailed early, the Lords had a huge third quarter and tied the game 49-49 after three quarters.
 
In the fourth Algonquin pulled away slightly and with just 48 seconds to go on a Thunder possession, Durham trailed 69-65. On the play the Lords received a foul, which resulted in Algonquin making it a six-point game.
 
Durham made it a two-point game in the closing seconds, but eventually fell 74-70.
 
Lindsay Panchan (Ajax, Ont.) led Durham with 33 points, alongside eight rebounds. Kayla Marshall finished with a team-high eight boards and 13 points, while Dekota Kirby (Markham, Ont.) finished with 10 points.
 
The Lords will travel to Scarborough on Wednesday to wrap up the first half of their season against the Centennial Colts. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
