OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team snapped their four-game losing streak on Saturday night as they defeated the Loyalist Lancers 83-44.
Durham was led offensively by
Lindsay Panchan (Ajax, Ont.) who had 25 points, but was closely trailed by
Dekota Kirby (Markham, Ont.) who finished with a season-high 22. Her previous high was 12 on January 12 at George Brown.
The duo were also the only Lords to finish in double-digit scoring.
With her 25 points, Panchan passed Erin Emery for second in Durham College all-time scoring. She now has 1,072 points as a Lord, while Emery finished her career with 1,067.
Durham was quick out of the gate, dominating Loyalist 26-8 after one quarter. They had little issue with the Lancers as they took a 47-20 advantage to halftime. Durham outscored Loyalist 36-24 in the second half en route to their win.
Regardless of the result of their final regular season game on Tuesday, the Lords are locked into fourth in the OCAA east region and will host the fifth seed from the west. For the third straight season, it looks like Durham's opponent in the qualifying game will be the St. Clair Saints.
The game will be played next weekend Saturday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. in Gyms 1/2.
