KINGSTON, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team had their four-game win streak come to an end as the St. Lawrence Vikings earned an 83-69 victory in Kingston Friday night.
Despite the loss,
Lindsay Panchan (Ajax, Ont.) drained a season-high 31 points as she was 14-for-19 from the field to go along with six rebounds and five assists. It was a milestone night for Panchan as she now has 800 career points with the Lords. She becomes the fifth Lord to accomplish this feat.
St. Lawrence would take a narrow seven-point lead into the fourth quarter and Durham seemed to run out of gas down the stretch in their comeback attempt as the Vikings outscored the Lords 17-10 to pick up the double digit victory.
Offensive rebounds played a big role in the game as the Vikings had 23 compared to just four by the Lords. Tyler Simon led St. Lawrence with five boards in the offensive zone as she finished with a double-double recording 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Maddie Dender (Ajax, Ont.) had 12 points for the Lords and
Courtney Harley (Cambridge, Ont.) had seven.
Leading the Vikings on the scoresheet was Sammy Gourdier with 20 points while Shian Noble had 17. The Lords were in foul trouble the entire night as the Vikings were sent to the line 29 times.
St. Lawrence (5-0) is now the only team undefeated in the OCAA east region while Durham sits alone in second place at 4-1.
Durham's next action will come next Friday at home against the George Brown Huskies (0-2). First tip at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre is 6 p.m.
