Team effort earns Lords 13th straight victory

OTTAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team had the entire team involved as they walked away with an easy 3-0 victory on Saturday against the La Cité Coyotes.

Durham held La Cité to only four points in the opening set before allowing only 12 points in each of the following two sets.

Erinn Marshall (Orillia, Ont.) had a career-high 14 points for Durham in their sweep of the Coyotes. She had a career-high 10 kills and four aces to lead the Lords offence, which was run through Camille Lefaive (Whitby, Ont.) and Megan Romain (Ajax, Ont.) who finished with a combined 34 assists.

The ever-efficient Shannon Dean (Whitby, Ont.) had nine kills on 10 attacks in two sets played.

Offensively, rookies Jessica Joensen (Pickering, Ont.) and Allyson Terwillegar (Enniskillen, Ont.) each had six kills, while Terwillegar also had two service aces.

Madeleine Elit (Trenton, Ont.) was the team's leader in blocks in back-to-back matches, finishing with two.

Pending the result of Georgian's match against Algonquin tonight and against La Cité tomorrow, Durham can clinch a berth to the OCAA championship with a victory in their next match. They host the Georgian Grizzlies on Thursday at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre, with the first serve scheduled for 6 p.m.

That night the Lords will be hosting pots and pans night, asking students to bring their own pots and make some noise for mental health.
