TORONTO, Ont. – Despite keeping pace with the George Brown Huskies for the opening sets of Wednesday's match the Durham College men's volleyball team ultimately fell 3-0.
The loss puts the Lords in an interesting position as they're now dependent on a pair of Fleming Knights losses to keep their postseason hopes alive. Up against the 7-7 Huskies, Durham fell 25-19 in the each of the opening sets before ultimately being handed a 25-18 third set defeat.
Fleming currently has a game in hand, up four points on the Lords. The Knights cannot win another match for Durham to have a shot at the championship qualification round. If Fleming lose each of their next two matches and the Lords win their next, the two teams would decide the final east division team to make a qualifying match on Sunday, Feb. 10 in Peterborough.
Outside of that situation, the Loyalist Lancers have two games in hand on the Lords and if they win two matches, then Durham will be eliminated from contention.
For Durham, their next match is their final conference home game on Thursday, Feb. 7 against the Seneca Sting. First serve at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre is scheduled for 8 p.m.
