The Georgian Grizzlies women's basketball team played their first game of the 2018-19 OCAA regular season on Friday night when they travelled to Toronto to take on the Seneca Sting.
After a close first quarter, the Sting were able to pour on the scoring on route to a 77-38 victory.
Kelsey Dunkeld (Barrie) and Mckenzie Howlett (Barrie) each had a matching team-high nine points in the loss.
The Grizzlies men's and women's teams will play their 2018-19 home openers on Wednesday, Oct. 24 when they host the Durham Lords. The double-header starts with the women's game at 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8 p.m.
The first 500 people in attendance will receive a free "GC State" wristband with tickets available at the door for $5.
