WINDSOR, Ont. – After a pair of wins to open their Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) season the Durham College women's softball team had to settle for a weekend split as the St. Clair Saints swept their doubleheader on Sunday.
Emily Glendinning took the loss in the opener, allowing seven hits, while striking out five. She pitched a solid game in the 5-2 loss, but didn't get the offensive support her team needed to top the Saints. The Lords scored early in the first and fourth, but in the bottom of the fourth the Saints started their comeback. They scored one before a pair in the fifth and sixth innings en route to the victory.
No batter for Durham finished with more than a single in the game.
Sarah Seifried and Glendinning each had an RBI.
Ashley Black took the loss in the second game 3-2, giving up three runs on seven hits. She finished with two strikeouts. The offence struggled again for the Lords who got behind 3-0 through three innings.
Saints pitcher Allison Telfer threw the complete game, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks.
At the plate
Sabrina Stalteri was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk to lead the Lords offence.
Nicole Mancini and
Jaimie Clarke had the two RBI for Durham.
The Lords will now return home for a Friday night doubleheader under the lights against the Seneca Sting. First pitch is 6 p.m.
