OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College baseball team clinched a berth in the OCAA final four championship with a pair of wins over the George Brown Huskies (3-0, 7-6) Saturday afternoon at Kinsmen Civic Memorial Stadium.
The Lords (9-5) move two games ahead of the Fanshawe Falcons (7-7) for third place in the standings, only trailing Humber (12-4) and St. Clair (10-4). The OCAA championship is scheduled to take place from Oct. 20-21 in Windsor, Ont.
The victory in game two came in dramatic fashion as George Brown erased a 6-1 deficit with two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh. In the bottom half of the inning,
Connor May (Oshawa, Ont.) drove home
Brian Wowk (Oshawa, Ont.) who led off the inning with a single, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. On the game-winning run, Wowk managed to avoid the tag with a well-positioned head-first slide.
Wowk was giving the Huskies a fit the entire game as he had three stolen bases while going 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs and two RBI.
Joshua Chaulk (Oshawa, Ont.) was 2-for-3 with a run and
Spencer Edwards (Vineland, Ont.) was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

In game one, Chris Carter (Port Perry, Ont.) and
Mitchell Heineman (Pickering, Ont.) combined to pitch the three-hit shutout. Carter went three innings and allowed two hits. Heineman allowed one hit in four innings of work as he picked up the win.

Ryan Bothwell (Napanee, Ont.) was 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI.
