Lords split doubleheader with Falcons, prepare for first-place Saints

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LONDON, Ont. – Although the Durham College women's softball team has two games in hand, they will need a pair of victories over the St. Clair Saints on Sunday to close the gap on the now first-place Saints.
 
A split against the Fanshawe Falcons on Saturday has the Lords four points back of the Saints. That said, the Lords and Saints are pulling ahead from the rest of the pack atop the OCAA standings in a battle for top spot.
 
In the Lords 6-2 victory, Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) earned her third win of the season to open Saturday's doubleheader. Andrea Patrick (Whitby, Ont.) took the loss in the Falcons 4-3 rebound to end the day.
 
Following Sunday's doubleheader in Windsor, Durham will split next weekend between Kitchener and Oshawa against the Conestoga Condors and Mohawk Mountaineers.
  Game 1
Courtney McKellar (Alvinston, Ont.) was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate for Durham with an RBI and two runs scored.
Alexis Pereira (Newmarket, Ont.) and Kaitlyn Hickey (Oshawa, Ont.) led with game-high two RBI each.
• Danni Smith had the lone RBI for Fanshawe.
 
Game 2
Caleigh Coels (Duncan, B.C.) was the lone Lord with RBI on the day. She was 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and a double.
• Three different Falcons drove in their runs, with the winning run being scored in the bottom of the sixth inning
  Game 1
Emily Glendinning earned her third win of the season, pitching a complete game. She allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits. She struck out four Falcons.
• Laura Chappel allowed five earned runs on 14 hits, while also picking up four strikeouts.
 
Game 2
Andrea Patrick made her second appearance on the mound for the Lords in her freshman season. She took the loss over six innings pitched, while giving up one earned run on seven hits and two walks.
• Nichole Erb allowed three earned runs on five hits and five walks in the win for the Falcons, but was pulled for the final out of the game, which gave Jacey Lochert the save. Erb struck out a game-high three batters.
  Overall Record: 6-2
