BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (14-1, 8-0 OCAA) overcame a slow start and used a 26-6 fourth quarter run to down Niagara 93-84.

"Niagara did an outstanding job tonight. They're one of the best rebounding teams I've seen in quite some time in the OCAA," head coach Jim Flack said. "We were very fortunate that Nav (Deol) got a hot hand down the stretch." 

It was a sluggish start at both ends of the floor for the Bruins, as Niagara opened the game on a 7-0 run and pushed their early lead to 14-2. 

The Bruins answered with an 8-0 run and trailed 17-14 after one. On the strength of a 10-3 second quarter run, Sheridan took their first lead of the contest, 28-27, but would were down five (44-39) at the break. 

Throughout most of the third quarter the Double-Blue were able to hold a slim edge - no higher than four points - but would trail 69-63 entering the final period, as Niagara closed the quarter on a 10-0 run.

Early in the fourth the visitors pushed their lead to nine, but the Bruins exploded for a 13-0 run - keyed by back-to-back-to-back three balls from Jemol Edwards and Deol - to open an 80-76 lead they would not relinquish. 

Sheridan connected five times from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter, nearly half of their 11 three balls for the game.

Deol scored a team-high 21 - 12 of which came in the fourth quarter, as he connected on six of his seven long range attempts - while Edwards (15), Terrell Carr (12) and Nick Campbell (10) were also in double figures. 

The Bruins will wrap up the first half of their schedule with an ever dangerous road trip to Redeemer on Dec. 1 (8pm). 

Blue notes: The victory wraps up the Bruins' home portion of the first half schedule. They posted a perfect 13-0 record on their home floor in 2017 and have won 27 straight inside the friendly confines of the Davis Campus gym.
