TORONTO, Ont. - With a doubleheader sweep of the fifth-place George Brown Huskies on Wednesday night, the Durham Lords men's baseball team moved one step closer to clinching a place in the 2018 OCAA championship, hosted by Durham College from Oct. 19-20.
The Lords picked up a convincing 6-1 victory to open the mid-week showdown, before going to extra-innings in the second game, exploding for five runs in the ninth-inning to win 8-4.
On the schedule next for Durham is their home finale on Friday, Oct. 5, welcoming the Seneca Sting to Kinsmen Memorial Stadium. The Lords will honour their graduating seniors in a special pre-game ceremony. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
Game 1
•
Connor May (Oshawa, Ont.) continued his hot-streak delivering two RBI and two runs, while also picking up two stolen bases.
•
Aidan Ali (Whitby, Ont.) and
Brett O'Hare (Bowmanville, Ont.) drove in the Lords other two RBI.
• Huskies Andrew McMahon went 1-for-3 from the plate, driving in the lone George Brown run.
Game 2
•
Reagan Manley (Peterborough, Ont.) led the Lords going 3-for-4 in the batters box, driving in two RBI and crossing the plate twice himself.

Brian Wowk (Oshawa, Ont.) batted lead-off for Durham, going 2-for-4 with one RBI and two stolen bases.
• Huskies Ryan Fata delivered the game-tying RBI in the seventh inning to force extra-innings, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Game 1

Alec Brown (Bowmanville, Ont.) pitched another complete game victory for his fourth win of the season, striking out seven, while allowing just one earned run.
• Huskies starting pitcher Quentin Fleming went five innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits and five walks.
Game 2
•
Jake Legros (Whitby, Ont.) went beyond the regular workload, going eight innings strong, with seven strikeouts and one earned run.

Jason Crouse (Oshawa, Ont.) pitched in relief, striking out all three batters he faced in the ninth inning
• Huskies pitcher John Luke Lamanna allowed three earned runs through 8.66 innings pitched before David De Cassan appeared in relief.
