Lords blow past Lancers for fourth consecutive win

OSHAWA, Ont. - The No. 14 nationally ranked Durham Lords women's basketball team has been on a tear, winning the last four games, including a 68-59 victory over the Loyalist Lancers on Tuesday night to improve to 4-1 on the year.

The meeting with the Lancers didn't have the smoothest of starts, with the Lords shooting well below 50 per cent and key players running into foul trouble in the early goings. However, as has become a theme this season, the Lords settled in and pulled away; they outscored Loyalist 38-25 in the second and third quarters to take a commanding lead. It will be a quick turnaround for the Lords, who are back in action Friday, Nov. 9 with a major test in Ottawa against the Algonquin Thunder. The Thunder are riding their own winning streak of three games. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
  • Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) powered the Lords offence with a game-high 27 points, shooting an impressive 10-for-14 from the field.
• The Lords were also boosted by the performance of Dekota Kirby (Markham, Ont.), who provided 16 points and five assists.
• Loyalist found its offence in the duo of Brianna Arichara and Brittany Mason, who picked up 14 points apiece.
  • Emily Chamberlain (Kingston, Ont.) made her presence felt in the interior for the Lords, collecting a game high nine rebounds.
• As a team the Lords outrebounded the Lancers 42-33 on the evening.
• Despite early foul trouble, Marie Stasiuk (Cobourg, Ont.) returned in the third quarter and made an impact for the Lords with a team-leading four steals.
• The Lancers' Taylor Blair registered a team-high eight rebounds, while Hailey Van dished out seven assists.
  Overall Record: 9-4
Conference Record: 4-1

Next game: Friday, Nov. 9 @ Algonquin Thunder • 6 p.m. - Ottawa, Ont.
