Hinckson Jr. dominates the paint to help Durham earn road win

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Setting new career-highs in points and rebounds in the Lords first conference game of the new year, third-year veteran forward Julian Hinckson Jr. (Ajax, Ont.) helped lead the Durham College men's basketball team to a 68-56 win over the Fleming Knights on Friday night.

The Lords were able to take advantage of their interior play, outrebounding the Knights 46-37, while outscoring their opponents 50-24 in the paint. In addition to their interior dominance, Durham also saw strong contributions from the bench, outscoring the Knights 24-9 in bench points.

Returning home to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre on Tuesday, Jan. 15, the Lords will face off with the George Brown Huskies. Also on the night, Durham will be honouring both the men's rugby and women's softball teams, both of whom won OCAA championships during the fall. Tip off for the game is set for 8 p.m., while the banner ceremony for the provincial champions will take place at halftime.
  • Hinckson Jr. finished the night with a game-high 24 points in 39 minutes of action, a new single game career-high for the third-year forward.
• Nailing two clutch three-pointers down the stretch, Lords season scoring leader Brandon Halliburton (Brampton, Ont.) registered 15 points, scoring 13 in the second half.
