DURHAM 13, SENECA 1

RICHMOND HILL, Ont. – The Durham College men's baseball team rolled over the Seneca Sting on Tuesday night outscoring them 35-1 in a two-game sweep.

The Lords spoiled the Sting's first ever home game with 2013 marking Seneca's inaugural season in OCAA baseball.

In game one, the Lords scored 22 runs on 23 hits with OCAA baseball athlete of the week Ilija Bozinovski (Ajax, Ont.) leading the charge going 5-for-5 at the plate with four runs and five RBIs. Ryan George (Whitby, Ont.) also had a five-hit performance as he was 5-for-6 with four runs and a RBI while former pitcher Jake Olynyk (Whitby, Ont.) was 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs.

Wesley Hardwick (Toronto, Ont.) pitched the five-inning shutout as he allowed only two hits and four walks. Hardwick fanned four Seneca hitters in his first win of the season.

Bozinovski would move to the mound in game two and earn the five-inning victory. He struck out a season high nine hitters and allowed only one earned run and four hits.

Top hitters included Michael Cyr (Whitby, Ont.) who was 2-for-4 with two runs and a RBI and Riley Davis (Innisfil, Ont.) was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

The Lords jump a half-game ahead of the Humber Hawks for second place in the OCAA standings with a 5-2 record. Seneca was unable to earn their first win as they fall to 0-6. All teams are trailing St. Clair who sit in first place with a 7-1 record.

Durham will return home on Thursday night as they host the OUA's Brock Badgers for an exhibition doubleheader. First pitch at Kinsmen Memorial Stadium is 5:30 p.m. Brock is the host of the inaugural OUA/OCAA championship to be held in St. Catharines this October.
