DURHAM 10, GEORGE BROWN 1

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College men's baseball team defeated George Brown College 10-1 at Kinsmen Memorial Stadium on Thursday.

The Lords took the lead in the first inning of the game when lead-off batter Spencer Green (Mallorytown, Ont.) was walked and later scored on a Keenan Terwillegar (Enniskillen, Ont.) sacrifice fly.

With the 1-0 lead, the pitching duo of Ryan George (Whitby, Ont.) and Dale Valade (North Bay, Ont.) took over the game and combined to strikeout nine George Brown batters in the victory. George pitched five innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five to earn the win. Valade appeared in relief and pitched two innings, allowing two hits while striking out four.

The Lords would add more runs to secure the victory in a six hit, seven run fifth inning. Durham College was led at the plate by Aaron McQuillen (Ajax, Ont.) who went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, Terwillegar who collected two RBIs on one hit and was walked once, and Mike Cyr (Whitby, Ont.) who consistently got on base being walked twice, hit by a pitch and collected two RBIs on one hit.

With the victory Durham College sits in a second place in the OCAA with four games remaining, all of which will be against St. Clair College as they will make up previously rained out games. The Lords will travel to Windsor to face St. Clair on October 5 and 6 with doubleheaders on each day.
