ST. CLAIR 16, DURHAM 4

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College men's baseball team fell 16-4 and 10-6 to St. Clair in a doubleheader Friday afternoon at Kinsmen Civic Memorial Stadium.

The pair of victories clinch the OCAA regular season pennant for the Saints, as they finish the year with a 14-2 record.

Game 1 began well for the Lords as they battled to a 4-0 lead through the first three innings. This included a spectacular play in the second inning from Aaron McQuillen (Ajax, Ont.) who converted a double play from right field, catching a deep fly ball and throwing the potential first run of the game out at home plate.

However, the Lords faltered in the fourth inning allowing St. Clair to pull ahead. Starting pitcher Dale Valade (North Bay, Ont.) would be relieved after pitching three innings by Wesley Hardwick (Toronto) and A.J. Clark (Fonthill, Ont.).

At the plate strong performances were had by David Fischer (Oshawa, Ont.) who went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and run, Spencer Green (Mallorytown, Ont.) who went 2-for-3 with a run, and Ilija Bozinovski (Ajax, Ont.) who went 2-for-3 and collected an RBI.

In Game 2 of the doubleheader, both teams exchanged runs throughout the game with St. Clair edging the Lords in the end. The Lords earned runs in the second, third and seventh inning with the highlight being a two-run triple for Green in the second. However, Durham fell behind after collecting five errors and leaving seven runners on base.

Starting pitcher Bozinovski went 4 1/3 innings allowing three earned runs while collecting one strikeout. Ryan Norris (Oshawa, Ont.) was strong in relief allowing no runs and collecting three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings of work.

Along with Green, strong efforts were had at the plate by Brennen Conquer (Ajax, Ont.) who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run and Ryan George (Whitby, Ont.) who was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.

With the losses, Durham concludes the regular season with a record of 10-6 and finish in third place in the OCAA standings. The team will now travel to Windsor, Ont., for the OCAA championships being held Oct. 18-19. The Lords will take on the Humber Hawks in the opening round of the championship.

OSHAWA, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's baseball team completed their regular season in style with a doubleheader sweep of Durham in Oshawa tonight finishing with a 14-2 record.

With the wins St. Clair assured themselves of the top seed for the OCAA championship being hosted at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh Oct. 18-19. St. Clair will face fourth seed George Brown in the opening round with Humber moving into the second seed and facing third seed Durham in the double knockout format tournament.

St. Clair (13-2) defeated Durham (10-5) by a score of 16-4.

After falling behind by four runs in the third inning, the Saints reeled off 16 runs in the top of the fourth inning causing the game to be shortened after the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.

St. Clair (14-2) defeated Durham (10-6) by a score of 10-6.

After staking themselves to a 5-0 lead after two at bats the Saints allowed Durham to come within a single run after three innings at 5-4. However, St. Clair pushed ahead for good with a pair of runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth inning.
