ST. CLAIR 8, GEORGE BROWN 3

TECUMSEH, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's baseball team (2-0) swept a doubleheader against George Brown College (0-2) Saturday afternoon in Tecumseh at Lacasse Park by scores of 8-3 and 10-0 to open their OCAA regular season.

In Game 1 St. Clair jumped ahead 1-0 after the first inning but fell behind 2-1 entering the bottom of the third inning. The Saints quickly erased that deficit with four runs and tacked on three more in the fourth inning. George Brown could only muster a single run in the sixth inning to complete the scoring.

St. Clair starting pitcher Kyle Breitner (Mississauga) held the mound for a complete game that featured 11 strikeouts while spreading out seven hits. The Saints terrorized the base paths with nine stolen bases in the game led by rookie outfielder Carson Burke (Tecumseh/St. Anne) who swiped five on his own.

In Game 2 the Saints opened the scoring in the opening inning taking a 1-0 lead but exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach. St. Clair completed the mercy shortened affair with a sac-fly by pinch hitter Jordan Pine (Garden River).

Saints starting pitcher Taylor Pappin (Brantford) notched his first win surrendering only four hits and a walk while striking out six George Brown batters. Michael McKay (Miramichi, N.B.) and Austin Oulds (Chatham) paced the St. Clair offence with two hits apiece that included doubles for each of them. Riley Warren (London) also had two hits and a pair of RBIs for St. Clair.

St. Clair completes their home stand Sunday with a doubleheader matchup against Seneca College (North York) at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh. Game times are set for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
