ST. CLAIR 7, DURHAM 5

CHATHAM, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's baseball team (10-4) held on to first place in the OCAA standings after winning twice over Durham College (Oshawa) in Chatham on Saturday but narrowly dropped both games Sunday against Humber College (Etobicoke) at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh.

On Saturday, St. Clair flirted with a mercy in the opening game but prevailed in seven innings by a score of 9-1 with Seth Chauvin (Tecumseh/L'Essor) going the distance for the win on the mound. Curtis Cunningham (Lasalle/St. Thomas of Villanova) had three RBIs with Matt Brooks (St. Thomas) and Carson Burke (Tecumseh/St. Anne) adding a pair of hits each in the Saints attack.

Game 2 on Saturday was a little closer but St. Clair hung on for a 7-5 win and Taylor Pappin (Brantford) took victory on the mound with Mitchell Gault (Tecumseh/Kennedy) earning a two-inning save. Matt Bondy (Amherstburg/General Amherst) had two hits for the Saints.

On Sunday, St. Clair was on the short end of 6-3 and 4-3 losses to Humber College. The first game went to extra innings and Saints starting pitcher Kyle Breitner (Mississauga) went unrewarded for his eight innings on the mound. Austin Oulds (Chatham) and Garik Godard (Belle River) each had two hits in that loss for St. Clair.

In the second game, Saints starting pitcher Micah Harris (Harrow) suffered his first loss of the season with Godard (2-for-3) and Oulds (3-for-4) supplying the offence.

The Saints are next in action Wednesday when they host the University of Windsor at Lacasse Park in exhibition play starting at 7 p.m.
